An exciting new era for Sydney’s home for tech startups
SYDNEY, July 13th, 2017: Australia’s largest community of highly-scalable tech startups Fishburners has partnered with Jobs for NSW as anchor tenant in Sydney’s new startup hub.
Based in the “Transport House” and “Railway House” buildings above Wynyard station, the 17,000m2 Sydney startup hub will be the largest startup hub in the southern hemisphere, and will provide 610 desks of Fishburners space to inspire and grow thousands of new startups.
“We’ve been working on the new location for Fishburners Sydney for three years, and I couldn’t be more excited to finally be able to cater to the demand we’ve received from startups looking for not just the right space, but also the right community to start their journey in,” Fishburners CEO Murray Hurps said.
Fishburners exists to inspire and grow Australian tech startups.
One of Australia’s first startup spaces, in six years Fishburners has expanded to 390 desks across Sydney, Brisbane and Shanghai, and hosted 845 validated startups run by 1,417 entrepreneurs.
“This is a quantum leap forward for us and for Sydney’s startup community,” Mr Hurps said.
“When Fishburners started six years ago, there were few options for startup founders looking for support,” he said.
“It’s incredible to see the progress in Sydney’s ecosystem since then, and there has never been a better time to take the plunge and see what you can achieve.”
This will be the fourth startup hub implemented by Fishburners, and the second as an anchor tenant in a government-supported startup hub. Each Fishburners location is designed to maximise members’ success through collaboration.

In addition to NSW Government support, Fishburners has the support of corporate partners Google for Entrepreneurs, Optus, Flight Centre, Dropbox, Amazon and BigAir, and is in negotiations with several other category leaders to join its community within the new hub.
