Brisbane, Tuesday, October 17, 2017: Fishburners Brisbane turns one this week and is celebrating as part of the The Capital’s 60 startups in 60 minutes event this coming Friday.
In what has been a hugely successful first 12 months, Fishburners Brisbane has welcomed over 160 members and the creation of 100+ new companies.
Fishburners CEO Annie Parker said demand for membership in Brisbane had been overwhelming with dozens of new enquiries on a weekly basis.
“The team in Brisbane has created an inclusive and sharing environment, something that Fishburners in well renowned for, and it is being sought out by new founders not only in Queensland but from around the world every day”.
Fishburners Brisbane is a destination for Advance Queensland’s $8 million start up relocation program. Hot Des Q sees entrepreneurs from interstate and internationally locate to Brisbane for at least six months.
“I’m delighted to see our Brisbane office packed full of extraordinary global talent who are building innovative companies right in front of our eyes,” Ms Parker said.
Fishburners Brisbane startups have raised nearly AUD$1M in the first 12 months and many are already profitable, with more than $6M in revenue recorded across member startups.
“The Fishburners community is known for producing some of Australia’s most exciting new startups and Brisbane has continued to add to our fantastic track record with success stories such as Spare Workspace, Spur Labs, Amplify, Trustbond and Photzy,” Ms Parker said.
The celebration for the Fishburners Brisbane’s first birthday will coincide with The Capital’s 60 start ups in 60 minutes event this Friday, where 60 of the hottest member startups from Fishburners, Digital Brisbane and Little Tokyo Two will have one minute to pitch to an exclusive audience of VIP guests, investors, and partners.
