What is Tyroola?

We are Tyroola.com.au – the largest tyre e-commerce shop in Australia. With access to more than 3 million premium, mid-range and budget products, 50+ brands, and more than 500+ fitting stations, we can deliver the perfect tyre for the customer’s needs straight to a tyre installer nearby. It’s really simple, you type in your size (found on the sidewall of your tyres), choose a tyre from our catalogue, select a fitter near you and pay. The user gets the best quality at lowest prices with convenient and fast service.
 
 

How did you get started?

We started off in 2015 when me and my two co-founders Matt and Andi created the first working version for the platform. We’ve worked all together at a startup before and were taking the opportunity we saw in the market to build a company ourselves.
 

Who is your startup for?

Our products are for every driver who love the convenience, customer service, transparency and want to save money at the same time.
 

Biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

The tyre industry is very traditional. As we started, both suppliers and fitting stations initially tried to oppose the entrance of an online player. It took convincing, listening to stakeholder’s needs and a bit of luck, before we were able to get the first partner on board. Just to start it all over again with the second one. But slowly, and each time in a slightly easier way, we managed to build strong relationships with most. Last and possibly most importantly, was the commercial partnership with Supercheap Auto, one of the biggest automotive spare parts chains in Australia.
 
 

Any advice for those considering launching a start up?

If your startup is operating in B2C, listen to your customers and create a platform to solve their problems and think about why the customer has that issue and not necessarily based on your personal preferences.
 

At what point did you come to Fishburners?

Fishburners was our first point of contact when starting our company and it still is our office and kind of our home since more than 2 years now. We came to Fishburners when there were only 3 of us, now there are 7 people working from FIshburners Sydney.  The community is is great, everyone is helping each other out. Especially in the beginning, we got many connections and insights that helped us grow our company.
 

How did you get the courage to start?

We analysed the market in depth and found that the level of customer-centric service, products and convenience was missing in the tyre industry and that there is a lot of potential out there.
 

What’s next?

We are still focusing on our core product which is our platform and are constantly improving it. Other than that we are looking for smart partnerships such as our cooperation with Supercheap Auto and product expansion in long term.
